Volunteers of the shelter "Right to Live" rescued more than half a hundred animals from the border areas of the Kursk region

Dogs, cats and even parrots were left without owners during the shelling. They continue to be evacuated from the problem areas until now.

RIA-Novosti has repeatedly told about how animals were rescued during the attack on the Kursk region. There was a stir at the local shelter "Right to Live" - rescued animals from all over the border were brought here.

"Our shelter has become such a transit center. About 40 cats were brought by volunteers from the Rylsky district of the Kursk region, almost all of them were abandoned during the evacuation. We took half of them to Tula for overexposure, some were taken by Donetsk volunteers, the rest stayed with us," says Ekaterina Zhilnikova, director of the Right to Live shelter.

Dogs were also taken to the Right to Live shelter, and then many were taken to St. Petersburg, Moscow and the Moscow region. We had to evacuate animals from the shelter itself, so unstable was the situation. Recently, almost 50 animals went to the territory of the Volokolamsk Nature Reserve, aviaries and a walking area have already been prepared for them there. Just the other day, the animals were sent to Moscow and the Moscow region for private overexposure and to new owners. The shelter hopes very much that when the situation in the Kursk region stabilizes, the dogs will return home again.

"We are very grateful to everyone who responded to the request for help," Ekaterina Zhilnikova continues, "who took the animals at home, who helps us spread information. We were very helped by people who gave us carriers, cages for our animals and all this was transferred to us through the Moscow zoo. It was very useful, otherwise we simply would not have been able to transfer the animals."

Now in the Kursk region, volunteers are trying to remove abandoned animals from the settlements of Tetkino and Korenevo, where it is still dangerous to be.

"Former residents of these areas take food to the remaining people there, and at the same time take food for dogs and cats from us. They quickly scatter the food and leave," says Ekaterina.

There are a lot of abandoned animals in the border areas of the Kursk region now. Most of the dogs come to the shelter exhausted, injured, not all can be saved. Recently, one of the military officers brought a dog and two parrots to the "Right to Live", they managed to attach them to a caring citizen of Moscow. And so, almost every day. Therefore, the shelter asks all those who are not indifferent to respond and, if possible, give the animals a new home - take them to themselves.
